Orrin Truman Wiste, 83, of Stewartville, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Grand Meadow Health Care Center in Grand Meadow from complications of a five-year illness with Alzheimer's disease.

He was born on Nov. 13, 1929, in Winneshiek County, Iowa, to Arnold and Bernice (Erickson) Wiste. He grew up on the family farm and attended rural schools.

Orrin was married on Aug. 25, 1948, in Preston to Marlys J. Scheevel. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Austin before moving to Rochester in 1965.

Orrin was an over-the-road truck driver for a number of years and then was employed by the Rochester School District as a custodial supervisor until his retirement.

The Wistes moved to Stewartville in 1993 where they have continued to make their home.

Orrin was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Rochester. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing cards and time spent with family.

Survivors include his wife, Marlys; a daughter and four sons, Dennis (Marcia) of Rochester, Duane (Cindy) of Kasson, Douglas of Stewartville, Doyle (Cindy) of Elk River, and Dee Olson of Rochester; 14 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; as well as two sisters, Betsy Sand of Spring Grove, and Dorothy Treangen of Waukon, Iowa; a brother, Arnie (Naomi) Wiste of Austin; two sister-in-laws, Carimona Wiste and Bonnie Wiste; and a brother-in-law, Lester Vongroven.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Blakstad; a granddaughter, Cheyenne Wiste; his parents; two sisters, Ione Treangen and Alvina Vongroven; and two brothers, Arvid and Dale Wiste.

His funeral service was March 15 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Rochester with Rev. Laura Sutherland officiating. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
