Paula Kay (Diersen) Rask, 50, of Caledonia, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System, La Crosse, Wis.

She was born Dec. 5, 1961, in Caledonia to Wilbert "Jake" and Bernice (Rud) Diersen. Paula was a 1980 graduate of Caledonia High School.

She was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in San Diego, Calif. On July 21, 1990, she married William Rask in Eitzen.

Paula was employed as a proofreader for the Caledonia Argus. In addition, she drove for the VA, always caring for everyone who needed it. Paula also served as the family nanny and was affectionately known as "Nanny P".

She loved spending time on her farm with her loving husband and caring for all their misfit animals - horses, dogs, cats and potbelly pigs.

Paula was a member of the Loveless-Eikens American Legion Post 191 of Caledonia.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; a very special girl, Jacquelyn Hauser; six sisters, Donna (Carl) Myhre, Joyce (George) Sanness, Diane Solie (Dave Holten), Bonnie Schmitz, Tammy (Steve) Schiltz, and Judy Russert; a brother, Stanley (Laura) Diersen; her mother-in-law, Betty Rask; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Alfred Rask; a brother-in-law, Kenny Schmitz; many aunts and uncles; and a nephew in infancy.

Funeral services were Oct. 8 at Wilmington Lutheran Church with Rev. James Scaife officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with military honors by the Loveless-Eikens American Legion Post 191 of Caledonia and the United States Navy Funeral Honor Guard.
