Roger Allen Benson, 64, formerly of Freeburg, Minn., currently residing in Bullhead City, Ariz., died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Western Arizona Regional Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 18, 1948, in St Paul to Gordon and Clara (Fleischman) Benson. Roger attended Mayo High School, graduating in 1969.

In November 1974, he married Mary Jane McFarland in Theilman, Minn. Roger and his family moved to Freeburg in 1978 and started a dairy farm. Roger and Mary Jane later divorced; he was then married to Tommi Thangpan in 2004.

Roger retired from Crescent Printing Company as head maintenance man. He loved helping people fix things; this is how he earned the nickname "Mr. Fix It".

Roger enjoyed traveling; he visited The Bahamas, Belize, Hawaii, Costa Rica and Thailand.

After Roger retired, he moved to Hawaii and built a home. In 2007, he moved to Bullhead City, Ariz.

While living in Bullhead City, he made frequent trips to Lake Havasu to enjoy the beautiful scenery and take his dogs, Lucy and Happy, on walks.

Survivors include his wife, Tommi (Thangpan) Benson; ex-wife, Mary Jane Benson; three children, Sunny (Brian) Lange, Dorchester, Iowa, Ali (Joseph) Jennings, Caledonia, and Heather (Travis) Klingaman, Madison, Wis.; four grandchildren, Noah and Lydia Jennings and Garner and Cael Lange; and a sister, Susan (Joe) Wright, Birmingham, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Benson, and mother, Clara Benson.

An open house celebration of life was held on Friday, Nov. 16 at the New Albin Community Center in New Albin, Iowa.
