Ronald D. Flatten, 70, died at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, Ill., on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012.

He was born Nov. 15, 1942, in Spring Grove to Archie and Palma (Johnson) Flatten.

Ron retired from Caterpillar after 35 years of service. He was a member in many clubs, Joliet Masonic Matteson Lodge #175 A.F. & A.M., Belmont A.C., Ingalls Park A.C., Elks Club and the Joliet Moose Lodge 300.

Survived include his wife of 45 years, Edith Flatten; a daughter, Stacy (Ed) Bargas; grandchildren, Eric (Ashly) Bargas and Tyler Bargas and Blair Flatten Jr.; a great-grandson, Landon Bargas; his sisters, JoAnn (Richard) Briesath and Darlis Klawvis; and two brothers, Arlyn (Donna) Flatten and Verland (Sue) Flatten.

He was preceded in death by his son, Blair Flatten, and parents.
