Rosalie Davis, 81, died on May 31, 2013. She was a resident of Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, Ill.

Rosalie Jane Deters was born on April 14, 1932, to Herbert and Elfrieda (Vollbrecht) Deters of Eitzen and was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke's United Church of Christ. She attended school in Eitzen and was valedictorian of her Caledonia High School class of 1950.

She attended Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill., graduating in 1954 with a degree in business administration. After graduation, she worked in Chicago for Harris Bank where she met Harley Davis.

She and Harley were married in 1962. After living in Chicago and Kankakee, Ill., the couple moved to Glen Carbon, Ill. They later divorced.

Rosalie worked as an accountant for General Dynamics and Peabody Coal in St. Louis. In her retirement, she proudly served as chairperson of the Madison County Republican Party.

She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Edwardsville, Ill.

Rosalie greatly enjoyed all of her travels, especially her solo trip through Europe in the 1950s, her trip to Asia and her time spent in the Florida sunshine.

Survivors include a brother, Garnett (Sandra) Deters and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Deters, all of Eitzen; and niece, nephews and great-nieces, Rebecca (Daniel) Kruse, Minneapolis, Marshall (Michelle Carstensen) Deters, North Branch, Nathan (Danette) and Emily and Erin Deters, Storm Lake, Iowa, and Graham (Kristine) and Luke Deters, Mendota Heights.

She is also survived by her special friend of more than 20 years, Robyn Strang of Maryville, Ill.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Warren Deters.

Services were held at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Edwardsville, with internment at St. Luke's United Church of Christ Cemetery in Eitzen at a later date.
