Former Caledonia resident, Sharon Lee Martell, 68, died from injuries suffered in a car accident south of Bloomfield, N.M., on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012.

Sharon was born to Charles and Sylvia (Harnden) Law on Nov. 30, 1943, in Fairmont, Minn.

On March 25, 1962, she married Donald Martell in San Diego. They lived in California, Minnesota and Colorado. The Martells lived in Caledonia from 1971-1981 where she worked at the Houston County ASCS office.

After retiring, they spent winters in El Mirage, Ariz., and traveled summers visiting family and friends. The most important thing in her life was her family and friends, her family said.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Donald Martell of El Mirage; daughters Michelle Martin of Farmington and Nancy Poston of Rapid City, S.D.; a sister, Vicki Wamhoff of Yucca Valley, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Bothwell.

A memorial service was held in Rapid City, S.D., on Oct. 29.
