Ask a Spring Grove Cub Scout when National Popcorn Poppin' Month is, and they will say - October!

Scouts in local Cub Scout Pack 55 had a taste-testing party on Wednesday, Sept. 26 to try the new popcorn company the Gateway Council is using this year - Pecatonica River Popcorn.

Packaging is different and recipes are different, but still tasty! There is a taste for everyone - from popping corn to cheddar cheese and butter light microwave to chocolate lovers. The tins are collector items. Popcorn makes a great gift!

If a person is not a fan of popcorn, there is a way to support the cause with a Military Donation; where their donation will make popcorn available to the men and women serving this country.

The popcorn fundraiser kicked off Sept. 29 and runs through Sunday, Oct. 21.

Ask your favorite Cub Scout to make an order. The current membership is: Chandler Bergrud, Michael Blackburn, Sam Folstad, Caleb Nerstad, Garrett Bergrud, Brody Christiansen, Isaac Gengler, Nick Lawson, Garrison VanMinsel, Gavin Ryan, Noah Blackburn, Hunter Holland and Joshua Newgaard.

The first pack meeting was Sunday, Sept. 16. Boy Scout Larry Schulte made a mini obstacle course for the scouts. They tried their hand at: exercise bands, basketball, jump rope, hula-hoop and pretend tires.

The scout handbooks always refer to health and fitness. This was an exercise to reinforce fitness for scouts.

The next outing for Cub Scouts have is the Spook-o-Ree, which is Oct. 13/14 at the Council Camp facilities - sign-up is required by Friday, Oct. 5. For more information contact Lori Johnson at (507) 450-9081 or Sue Schulte at (507) 498-5437.
