Sometimes giving a gift is hard to do. It is especially hard to find gifts for teenagers. Inspired by a classroom project created by students in Mrs. Lile's class, Spring Grove junior and senior students have decided to take on this challenge as a way to help other teenagers in Houston County.

After contacting the Care and Share organization, which collects items to be used as Christmas gifts and disperses them throughout Houston County, it was determined that there was a need to collect items or raise funds to purchase items suitable for teenagers. Who better to shop for teenagers than other teens?

These students are planning various events to be held at school this week to raise funds, as well as plan to be present at some of the community activities in order to collect both gift and monetary donations.

If you are interested in donating an item, the students came up with a list of "teenage appropriate" gifts within the $20 range: popular books, perfume/cologne, socks, sports accessories or equipment, hats and gloves, headphones, earrings/jewelry, fingernail polish or a nail kit, picture frames, water bottles, plain colored sweatshirts, hair accessories, blankets, pillow pets and popular CD or DVDs.

Also a VISA gift card or other gift cards such as Walmart, Kwik Trip, Target, etc. would make good gifts. These can often be used in stores or online and allow teens to make choices for themselves.

Otherwise, those interested can donate money towards the cause, and these funds will be used to purchase quality items suitable for teenagers by teenagers.

Donations can only be accepted until Friday, Dec. 14! If you cannot make it to any of the school or community events, donations can be dropped off at the school office. Contact Mrs. Lile if you have any other questions or needs.

Thank you teenagers for caring about other teenagers. Thank you everyone else for helping them succeed. Please consider donating to a great local cause!
