March is National Scouting for Food Month. The annual "Scouting for Food Drive" will be Saturday, March 9, in the Spring Grove community.

This drive is a collaborative effort to assist Semcac's Houston County Food Shelf in providing food for the needy.

The Cub Scouts will distribute the flyers, and the Boy Scouts will pick up the donated items.

Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts alike are committed to serving their communities and constantly strive to lend an extra hand for the betterment of the area.

The Scouting for Food Campaign is one huge way that Scouts give back to the community, and they need your support to make this campaign successful!

City residents are invited to donate non-perishable food items such as: canned meats or fish; canned soup, fruits and vegetables; peanut butter and jelly; boxed pasta, Mac-n-Cheese, Hamburger Helper, etc.; and personal care items.

Place any non-perishable food items to donate in a bag outside your front door this coming Saturday by 9 a.m. for the Boy Scouts of Troop 55 to pick up.

Residents that live in the country and would like to donate money or non-perishable food items or for anyone that has any questions, contact Sue Barker at (507) 498-3315.

The scouts thank the public for its support!
