Spring Grove High School's annual Awards Night this year included a stunning display of art projects showcasing the current students' many talents. Attendees were able to peruse the art following the Awards Night where many scholarships and awards were handed out.

Senior Attendance Awards:

Mackenzie Hunter - missing only 9 days during his high school career

National Honor Society (receiving their honor cords to wear at graduation): Jack Benson, Autumn Bornholdt, Samantha Boyd, Kaitlin Bratland, Mariah Deschler, Nicole Ellingson, Haley Halverson and Desi Otterness.

Presidential Education Award (3.5 GPA or higher, given to eighth and 12th grade students):

Eighth grade students: Lauryn Bohr, Hannah Borreson, George Boyd, Claire Bratland, Zach Folstad, Harlee Gavin, Vivian Kampschroer, Vendela Parker, Cullen Patterson, Luke Schneider, Adin Solum, Makena Speltz and Claire Urell.

12th grade students: Jack Benson, Autumn Bornholdt, Samantha Boyd, Frida Bryn, Mariah Deschler, Nicole Ellingson, Haley Halverson, Caleb Happel and Kendra Prahl.

Salutatorian: Autumn Bornholdt.

Valedictorian: Mariah Deschler.

National Choral Award: Kaitlin Bratland.

Senior Athlete Awards:

Tara Solberg - 6 varsity letters (4 gymnastics, 2 volleyball).

Nicole Ellingson - 8 varsity letters (4 basketball, 4 volleyball).

Aly Folz - 10 varsity letters (4 volleyball, 3 basketball, 3 track).

Athletes of the Year:

Female co-winners: Nicole Ellingson and Aly Folz.

Male co-winners: Caleb Happel and Dustin Vickerman.

The Spencer Olson Memorial awarded four - $250 scholarships to Nicole Ellingson, Tara Solberg, Aly Folz, and Emily Hahn.

From the American Legion Post #249, $500 each went to Jack Benson, Autumn Bornholdt, Samantha Boyd, Kaitlin Bratland, Laura Johnson, Jayme Lenning, Larry Schulte, and Tara Solberg.

Tri-County Electric Co-op bestowed $400 scholarships upon Isaak Solum and Desirae Otterness. Tri-County Electric has given out $99,000 in scholarships in the last five years to 244 seniors.

POET Biorefining awarded a $500 scholarship to Nick Holty.

A National FFA Award from Fastline for $1,000 was awarded to Nick Holty.

The Waterloo Ridge Church Council gave Jayme Lenning a $200 scholarship.

A Youth Development scholarship of $75 each was awarded to Kaitlin Bratland, Nicole Ellingson, Haley Halverson and Isaak Solum.

The Syttende Mai Royalty Scholarship (funded by Commercial Club) in the amount of $300 each was awarded to the 2013 royalty - Kendra Prahl, Kaitlin Bratland, and Laura Johnson.

The Arlin Falck Foundation scholarship of $925 each went to Haley Halverson and Isaak Solum.

The Spring Grove Commercial Club issued $200 scholarships for Academics to Mariah Deschler, Jack Benson, Autumn Bornholdt, and Nicole Ellingson; for Attendance to Mackenzie Hunter; for Citizenship to Mackenzie Hunter; for Fine Arts to Kaitlin Bratland and Matthew Schleich; and for Athletics to Nicole Ellingson and Aly Folz.

Merchants Bank provided a $300 scholarship to Kaitlin Bratland.

Trinity Lutheran Church of Spring Grove provided scholarships of $200 each to Autumn Bornholdt, Kaitlin Bratland, Heidi Jo Buxengard, Mariah Deschler, Aly Folz, Emily Hahn, Hank Hegge, Laura Johnson, Larry Schulte, Tara Solberg, and Isaak Solum.

The Spring Grove Education Association in memory of Henry Evenmoe presented $500 to Kaitlin Bratland.

The Burtness Estate bestowed $125 upon valedictorian Mariah Deschler.

The Sundet Scholarship of $500 each, (renewable for four years) went to Mitchell Anderson, Autumn Bornholdt, Jack Benson, Mariah Deschler, Desirae Otterness and Larry Schulte.

The Carlton Kroshus Scholarship of $1,000 each (renewable for four years) went to Autumn Bornholdt, Jack Benson, Mariah Deschler, Nicole Ellingson, and Haley Halverson.

The local Dollars for Scholars organization gives scholarships to all graduating seniors that are continuing their education. They hit a milestone this year - it is their 25th year of awarding scholarships to graduating seniors. Their first year they were able to give out two scholarships totaling $600. This year they were able to give out 26 scholarships for a total of $8,200! During their 25 years of awarding scholarships, they have given out $167,000.

Receiving $200 each were Mitchell Anderson, Kjersten Borreson, Heidi Jo Buxengard, Aly Folz, Amanda Hahn, Emily Hahn, Hank Hegge, Nick Holty, Laura Johnson, Kody Olerud, Zach Sanness, and Matthew Schleich.

Receiving $300 each were Haley Halverson, Mackenzie Hunter, Kendra Prahl, Mikal Guberud, and Jayme Lenning.

Receiving $400 each were Kaitlin Bratland, Desirae Otterness, Larry Schulte, Tara Solberg, and Isaak Solum.
