The Spring Grove Student Council along with all children grades k-12 are kicking off their fourth annual food drive and will once again be competing in the Channel One Food Drive challenge!

The theme this year is "Reach for the Sky" as the student body is hoping to reach the sky-high goal of 50,000 pounds of food to be collected this year! Last year, they collected 8,401 lbs. total, which is 82.4 lbs. per student.

As has been the tradition in the past, the student council is challenging each grade to see which one will bring in the most food. The class with the most food per student will be rewarded with a pizza party.

Parents and the community's help is also crucial. This is a time to dig deep and help out local families and friends that are in need of the services of the Houston County Food Shelf. The food drive provides food for the hungry in Houston County while also providing an opportunity for Spring Grove students to recognize that in giving to others, it is they that receive.

Food items particularly needed include peanut butter, SPAM, canned vegetables and fruits, cereals and boxed dinners. No glass bottles or outdated foods, please. The need is great but we can all help!

Please join the challenge as we all "Reach For The Sky!"
