Sixteen schools competed this fall, and brought in more than 32,000 pounds of food for local food shelves. Spring Grove Public School brought in 8,050 pounds of food...over 1/4 of the total.

Spring Grove won two categories: most food collected, and first place for small schools. Thirteen student council students attended the awards celebration in Rochester at the Channel One Food Shelf. We were served pizza, cupcakes, and soda.

"We are proud and humbled by the generous citizens of our school and our community who made this event such a success," said Spring Grove Student Council advisor Renee Eiken. "The shelves of the food shelf in Caledonia are full to bursting. Thank you to all who helped in this effort."

Shown are Karen Doering (Channel One Student Food Drive coordinator), Nicki Ellingson, Emily Hahn, Autumn Bornholdt, and Grace Edgington.
