C/SG vs. P-E-M, May 6

PEM 203 120 0 - 8 10 1

C/SG 006 000 1 - 7 11 4

Trailing by two runs, C/SG had the bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the final inning. Jake Dolle scored during a double play, but then a pop-up ended the game with the tying run in scoring position. The Warriors were edged 8-7.

It was the last time a lead change looked imminent. Both teams had come from behind earlier in the game.

A 5-0 Bulldog lead in the top of the third was wiped away with a Warrior 6-run, 6-hit rally in the bottom of that frame. That inning included C/SG's first home run of the season, a 2-RBI blast by Dolle. It also featured a bases-loaded, 3-RBI double from Austin Bauer and another RBI two-bagger from TJ Schultz.

P-E-M used only one hit along with 3 walks, a hit batter and an error while retaking the lead during the next two innings. They were not able to pad their 8-6 lead despite loading the bases with 3 singles in the top of the seventh. Reliever Kai Lidstrom (4K, 0W) quelled the uprising with a final-out fly ball.

Eight of the nine Warriors had base hits. Seth Twite batted 2 for 3 while both Dolle and Schultz went 2 for 4. Harrison Speltz hit 1 for 2 with a double.

Eight of the 10 Bulldog batters also hit safely. Thomas Miller went 2 for 3 with a double, the Bulldogs' only extra-base hit. Reese McEvoy batted 2 for 4.

Storm Seefeldt pitched a one-hitter for the Cardinals, who led 6-0 after the opening inning. The early lead came with three Cardinal hits including a bases-loaded, 3-RBI double by Jordan Theede. Two of the 3 C/SG errors and 2 of 3 free passes also came in the opening frame.

Arron Hohensee batted 2 for 3 with a double for the Cardinals.

Joe Pettit (1 for 2) had the only Warrior hit in the fourth inning. The lone C/SG run came in that frame, which opened with a walk to Speltz. He would score on a wild pitch after Pettit singled and a sacrifice bunt by Tanner Langen moved runners up.

Other C/SG base runners got on with 6 walks and a hit batter. Three walks loaded the bases with one out in the sixth, but Kaleb Lehnertz came on in relief to end the threat. The junior pitcher struck out 3 of the final 5 C/SG batters.

Only 3 Cardinal runs were earned as Langen absorbed the pitching loss despite striking out 6 and walking only one.

The Cardinals committed no errors while improving to 5-4 (5-4 TRC). C/SG closed the week at 1-5 (1-5 TRC).
