Four sub-section track meets were held last week to determine which athletes will move on to Section 1A events. Caledonia/Spring Grove competed in Sub-section One at Chatfield on Thursday, May 22.

To qualify for section track meet, athletes must place third or higher at sub-section, achieve a standard (time, distance, or height) or be among the top eight in all four sub-sections. Section 1A will be held on May 27 & 29 at Paul Giel Field in Winona.

Aly Folz won shot put for a second straight year achieving a distance of 34 feet 11 inches. She will also compete in discuss where she took third.

Ali Beardmore qualified in two events as well. She took second in the 300 meter hurdles with a new personal-best time of 48.11 seconds and ran on the third-place 4x100M relay with Josephine Wagner, Brenna Werner, and Alexis King.

Wagner will also compete in high jump where she tied for second.

For the boys, Ryan Pitts won the 100M dash in 11.27 and the 200M in 23.28. He also ran on the winning 4x100M relay with Devan Heaney, Ben McCabe, and Sam Schulte. That squad broke the tape in 44.83.

Schulte qualified in the 200M dash as well taking third with a new personal-best time of 24.21.

Nolan Rohrer will compete in the 400M dash where he took second with a new personal best time of 53.86.

West Spier won the high jump at 6.01. He will also compete in long jump where he took second with a new personal record of 20-04.50.

There were also some great C/SG performances in events that will not be going on to section. But the top eight in each event earned team points. All three girls relays ran their best times this season, with the 4x200 (Samantha Colleran, Tracy Felten, Wagner, and Werner) placing fourth and the 4x400 (Colleran, Wagner, Werner, Mariah Schieber) finishing fifth.

Felten took fourth in long jump with a new personal record (15-01.0) while Schieber finished fifth in the 800M in 2:35.51, a new personal-best time. Beardmore also took sixth in long jump.

Rohrer had a new personal-best in long jump finishing fourth. Phillip Paulson finished fourth in the 110M hurdles.

Schulte took fifth in the 100M dash. Thomas Jergenson sixth in the 400M dash with a new personal record.

The 4x200 relay (Mitchell Anderson, Case McCormick, Rohrer, Ezekiel Ott) took fifth as did the 4x400M (Bryan DeWitt, Thomas Jergenson, Ethan Zahn, Andrew Vick). Vick was also fifth in high jump, and DeWitt sixth.

C/SG finished sixth in girls team totals (79.58 points), while the boys were third (98 points).
