The Caledonia/Spring Grove/Houston co-op gymnastics team improved their marks last week while hosting La Crescent. After a 109.95 varsity debut, the Warriors scored 115.475 during their second competition. The Lancers scored 12.7 more points than their hosts, coming in at 128.175.

Sierra Hunter averaged 7.65 on parallel bars. Tara Solberg earned 7.05, while Skylar Schoh saw 6.65. Abby Hoskins took 5.75, bringing the team total to 27.100.

On balance beam, Hunter scored 7.35 points, Hoskins 6.65, Solberg 6.275 and Emily Hahn 6.20. Those top four comprised the team score of 26.475. Alissa Peterson also competed for the varsity, averaging 5.90 on the event.

On floor routine, Hunter led the team at 7.85 while Solberg had 7.50 and Kaylee Cavanaugh 7.425. Hoskins earned 6.60 points. Also competing was Hahn at 6.55. Once again, the top four scores were tallied towards a team score of 29.375.

Vault represented a strong event for the Warriors. Solberg led with 8.425. Cavanaugh scored 8.10 with Hoskins at 8.05 and Hunter at 7.95 adding to the team total of 32.525. Erin Schultz also competed for the varsity, recording a 7.25.

Hunter broke the 30-point mark in all-around competition (30.80) while Solberg came close at 29.250. Hoskins tallied 27.050. Lancer senior Rochelle Thesing won the all-around with 35.550, also getting individual high scores on all four events.

"We did some improving on the team varsity score, and I was pleased to see us start getting a bit more comfortable competing," coach Jackie Johnson said.

"Kaylee Cavanaugh added the floor (event) this week and that was a big help to our team score. We hope she can get back on all events soon. Sierra Hunter broke the 30-point marker for all around and Tara Solberg was close.

"JV was a lot of fun to watch; we had girls competing for the first time ever. Claire Bratland, Kerrigan Scanlan, Vendela Parker and Haley Holty did very well. It is always nice to get the 'new girls' competing."

Scanlan was 4.10 on beam while Bratland scored 3.6 points. Parker scored 3.9 on floor routine and Holty 5.2.

Other JV scores included Schultz (5.0) and Hahn (4.9) on bars. Mikki Boyd took a 4.2 on beam, which Schultz scored 7.4 on. Cayla Schleich took 5.30 points on the event. Scanlan also went out for floor, scoring 4.60.

Other JV floor scores included 5.00 by Becca Roble and 5.50 by Schultz. Peterson took a 6.70 on vault. Schleich vaulted for 6.90 points while Hahn collected a very respectable 7.95 on the event.

The Warriors will host Pine Island on Friday, Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m.
