The Caledonia/Spring Grove girls (5-2, 4-2 TRC) battled the elements and challenging course conditions while winning both conference golf matches last week.

C/SG at Chatfield, May 1

The ladies defeated the Gophers 205-247 on Thursday. The site was a cold (45 degrees), wet and windy Chosen Valley Golf Club.

Warrior Rebekah Schroeder shared medalist honors with Morgan Henry of Chatfield carding a 49. Ashley Gavin brought in a 50, Claudia Melde 52, and Katrina Paulson 54. Rachel Peterson and Julianna Sand also teed it up for C/SG.

"We continue to lower our team score, and 205 is getting closer to where we want to be," C/SG coach Jacquelyn Snodgrass said following the meet.

"Our goal is to have our team score (down to) 200, so we are getting closer. Rebeckah had a great round and broke into the 40s, and Ashley continues to play consistent for us shooting a 50. We are still having some high numbers and need to work on eliminating the 7s and 8s on the scorecards.

C/SG at Southland, May 2

The Warriors visited the Rebels on Friday when both teams made the best of a waterlogged Cedar River Golf Course. C/SG totaled 226 while Southland had to settle for an incomplete (only one golfer present).

Gavin led the way shooting a 51. Paulson brought in a 55 while Melde (59) and Schroeder (61) rounded out the varsity score card. Sand and Peterson also played varsity for C/SG.

"The girl's hung in there in tough conditions on a very wet golf course," Snodgrass noted. "It definitely put their mental games to the test, and Ashley and Katrina did a good job of staying focused and playing solid.
