Devin Schiltz tied for eighth place among 90 golfers at the Stewartville Invitational
Willow Creek Golf Course at Rochester was the site of the Stewartville Invitational Tournament last Thursday, where athletes from 16 boys varsity programs gathered to compete.

It was a difficult day for golf - breezy, with temperatures hovering around 40 degrees. But for the hosting Tigers, that didn't seem to make a difference. Stewartville took first in team totals (335) followed by the Byron Bears (352). The Bears had won the tourney for the last three years.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa (357), Lake City (362) and Kasson-Mantorville, which tied with Hayfield at 365, rounded out the top six spots.

Caledonia/Spring Grove placed 11th at 384 also finishing behind Blooming Prairie, Fillmore Central, Rushford-Peterson and Pine Island.

But the Warriors finished ahead of Lanesboro (397), LeRoy-Ostrander (394), Lyle/Pacelli (408), Houston (414) and Kingsland (473).

C/SG senior Devin Schiltz tied for eighth among 90 golfers, finishing six strokes behind the meet medalist with a round of 85.

Teammates Cody Breeser and Simon Ely both shot 99 while Rodney Tweito carded a 101. Carson Bullerman and Cole Konkel also played varsity for the Warriors.

Jordan Miller of Fillmore Central and Hunter Fjerstad of Byron tied for medalist honors, and the pair played a tiebreaker handicap hole for the crown, which went to Miller.

Third place was shared by Victor Peterson of Blooming Prairie and Nick Hillemeirer of Byron, who both shot 81. Alex Sperber of Stewartville was 5th with an 82.
