Boys battle through chilly, wet week on the links

The boys from Caledonia/Spring Grove hosted a team from Decorah on Tuesday, April 29. Two days later, the team sent competitors to two venues with six going to Wabasha and nine teeing it up at Chatfield. On Friday, C/SG traveled to Adams for a match with Southland. The Warriors (13-18, 3-4 TRC) went 1-2 in duals.

C/SG vs. Decorah, April 29
The visitors from Iowa bested C/SG 174-190 on Tuesday. Devin Schiltz (44) carded the low round for the home team. Drew Stemper and Isaak Solum both shot 48 while Cody Breeser brought in a 50. Symon Ely and Rodney Twieto also played on the varsity round. Scores for Decorah were not made available.
The C/SG JV was also defeated, 188-201. Zach Sanness led the Warriors with a 46. Cole Konkel shot a 51. Logan Larson, Mick Bullerman and Riley Johnson also competed.
W-K "Falcon Invite," May 1
The 18-hole Wabasha-Kellogg tournament featured cold, windy, and wet conditions. Eight teams were on hand, and C/SG finished fourth (371) two strokes behind Fillmore Central. Lewiston-Altura finished first at 338, followed by Lake City (340).
The Warriors finished ahead of Plainview-Elgin-Millvile (373), Houston (388), W-K (406) and Lanesboro (410).
Thomas Hennessy of L-A was meet medalist carding an 81. Stemper shot a 91 for the Warriors. Schiltz provided a 94 for the team total while Breeser carded a 95. Ely shot a 97. Twieto and Carson Bullerman also competed for C/SG.
C/SG vs. Chatfield, May 1
The Gophers topped the Warriors at Chosen Valley Golf course, 202-205. Sanness shared medalist honors with Chatfield's Chris Hanson (47). Solum and Konkel both shot 51. Johnson rounded out the scoring total for C/SG carding a 56. Larson, Larry Schulte, Mick Bullerman, Matt Morrow, and Ryan Schroeder also played for C/SG.
C/SG at Southland, May 2
Six varsity players visited Southland the following day, taking on a waterlogged Cedar River Golf Course. The Warriors prevailed, 185-228.
Schiltz and Breeser shared meet medalist honors shooting rounds of 44. Stemper carded a 48 while Carson Bullerman shot a 49. Tweito and Ely also played on the varsity round.
"It was nice to see the sun last week," C/SG coach Jeremy Leis said. "We are getting to the end of the season already; we have two meets this week playing Monday at La Crescent and Tuesday at Rushford. We will get some great and much needed practice time this week.
