Spring Grove/Caledonia pitcher Samantha Bratland has been named to the 1AA All-Section and Honorable Mention All-State teams for Minnesota Class AA.
In addition, she has made the first team All-Three Rivers Conference list, her third all-conference appearance in three seasons (the previous two in the Southeast Conference). Catcher Lottie Augedahl also made the all-conference team for a second straight season.
Honorable Mention on the all- conference list went to infielders Cara Stemper and Alexy Bearbower.
As a team, the SG/C varsity earned the prestigious All-State Academic Gold Team Award (3.75 GPA or above).
Bratland, a sophomore, compiled a pitching record of 15-6 overall, pitching 136 of the 160 innings in which SG/C played defense this spring. With an earned-run average of 0.62, she struck out 196 batters while only walking 31.
She not only pitched with power, but also accuracy. Strikes numbered 1293, while balls totaled 593. Bratland had 22 put-outs and 35 assists. She led the team in extra-base hits (13) with 8 doubles, 2 triples, and 3 home runs.
She also led the team in runs batted in (RBIs) with 29 and compiled the team's best overall batting average at .367.
Behind the plate, Augedahl, recorded 206 put-outs and 18 assists in 2013, her junior year.
Playing in 24 of 25 games, Augedahl averaged .346 at the plate, scoring 23 runs. She was second only to Bratland in both batting average and RBIs (18).
Stemper also earned All-State Academic honors. That difficult-to-attain senior-only award requires maintaining a GPA of 3.75 through all four years of high school. She hit .282 overall, .348 with runners in scoring position. Stemper scored 20 runs while recording 22 hits. With a sharp eye at the plate, she led the team with 14 walks.
Bearbower batted .284 and garnered 19 hits. The junior led the team in assists with 39.
SG/C finished third in the TRC South, posting a record of 11-4 in conference play, 16-9 overall.
