Three track and field programs met in La Crescent on Friday, May 2. The "Elton John Invitational" was an unscored event, which featured athletes from Caledonia/Spring Grove, La Crosse Logan, and La Crescent.

Ryan Pitts was in on three wins, West Spier two and Aly Folz another. Several C/SG athletes tried their hand at some new events.

Boys

Pitts was 3 for 3, winning both the 100-meter and 200M dash events for the third time this season and helping his teammates on the 4x100M relay to victory as well. Pitts' individual times were in 11.40 and 23.81 seconds, respectively. The relay team, which also featured Sam Schulte, Devan Heaney, and Ben McCabe, won in 46.73.

Spier won the high jump for a fourth time this year at 6 feet even. He also won the long jump at 19-00.50. In addition, Spier entered the 110M hurdles for the first time this season, placing sixth.

Jordan Jaster took second out of 27 discus entrants. The freshman thrower has made steady progress this season. Teammate Bryan Barthel was one of 28 shot put hopefuls. He took third.

Phillip Paulson got fourth in the 110M hurdles, as well as in pole vault.

Sam Schulte took fourth in the 100M dash while teammate Heaney took fifth in the 200M and sixth in the 100M. Nolan Rohrer took fifth in the 100M.

Case McCormick took fourth in discus and tied for fifth in pole vault. It was his first ever attempt at both those events. With many of the boys and girls entering individual sprints, C/SG entered only one boys and one girls relay.

Girls

For the ladies, Folz won the shot put (36-04.00) and took second in discus (82-01). Her throw in the former was her best this year and the second-best in her career. It was Folz's third shot put win in four meets.

Tracy Felten and Alexis King tied for second in high jump clearing 4-06.00). Also for first time this season, the girls had a triple jump entrant. Felten hadn't entered the event since last spring, but placed 5th. Rachel Welsh took fifth in high jump for C/SG.

Lydia DeMorett captured third in the 400M dash. She has run that distance on three occasions this year improving her time each time.

Ali Beardmore took third in the 300M hurdles, fourth in the 100M dash, and sixth in both the 100M hurdles and long jump. It was her first attempt at both the low hurdles (300M) and high (100M).

The 4x200M relay of Brenna Werner, Josephine Wagner, Samantha Colleran, and Felten took third. Wagner went on to take fourth in high jump and sixth in the individual 200M dash.
