The Rebels defeated C/SG 8-2 in Adams. Using 2 hits, 2 errors and a walk to take a 4-0 lead in the first inning, Southland extended its margin in the second with a triple and 2 walks. That made the game 7-0 going into the third.
Overall, the Rebels scored 8 runs with only 6 hits aided by 5 C/SG errors.
C/SG limited the home team to only one more run during the final four innings, but the Warriors struggled in the batting box. C/SG managed only 3 hits, 2 by Tanner Langen including a double.
Langen also made his varsity mound debut pitching five innings in relief, allowing only one unearned run while striking out 6 and walking none.
The Warriors scored both runs with some help in the fourth inning. After 2 walks and a Langen single loaded the bases with two outs, C/SG scored first with a walk to Seth Twite and then on an infield error. The other C/SG hit was a single by Joe Pettit in the second
"We got down early due to errors in the field and Southland stringing together some hits," C/SG Coach Dave Konz noted. "Once we gathered ourselves, we only allowed one (more) run, but we still couldn't get the bats going."
For SHS, starter Decker Bendtsen and winning pitcher Lukas Anderson combined to strike out 14 batters and walk 6. Anderson (3 RBI) was the only player with multiple hits, going 2 for 3 with a home run and a double. Isaac Kloeckner had a 2-RBI triple.
The Rebels improved to 3-0 while C/SG remained winless after three games.

Both teams needed some charity to score on April 30, since hits were few. GMLOK senior Trevor Gomer pitched a two hitter while striking out 6, but he issued 7 free passes with 3 walks and 4 hit batters. The Warriors won, 5-3.
After two appearances in relief, Kai Lidstrom made his first varsity start for C/SG. The sophomore left hander gave up only three hits, fanning 6 batters while walking only 3. Both pitchers went the distance.
C/SG took a 4-0 lead in the first inning with a 2-RBI single from sophomore Kyle Sorenson aided by 2 walks and 2 hit batters. A lead-off single by sophomore Harrison Speltz was followed by 2 errors and a sacrifice bunt from Sorenson to make it 5-0 after three innings.
The Bulldogs got one run back in the next inning with a single by Doug Sabatke (2 for 3) along with a walk and 3 errors.
In the final seventh inning, Sabatke scored the game's final run after his leadoff single was followed by two errors and a walk. GMLOK was then down by three runs with the bases loaded and no outs, but Lidstrom retired the next three batters to end the game.
C/SG earned its first win at 1-3 (1-3 TRC) while GMLOK remained winless at 0-7 (0-6 TRC).
The Warriors are 6-1 versus the Bulldogs since Spring Grove and Caledonia combined forces three years ago.
"The difference in this game was we were more patient at the plate which led to base runners and gave us an opportunity to score early," Konz said.
