Girls take team title at L-A Invite

On May 13, Caledonia/Spring Grove thinclads traveled to the Lewiston-Altura Invitational. Out of the five teams who entered, the C/SG girls finished first and the boys fourth.

The C/SG girls gather around their team championship trophy at the Lewiston-Altura Invite.
The girls scored 129 points, a sizable margin of 47 points over second-place Lake City with a total of 82 points, followed by Chatfield (63), L-A (61) and Wabasha-Kellogg (20).
Chatfield took first in boys events (110 points), followed by L-A (85), W-K (83), C/SG (67) and Lake City (35).
Hannah Russert won all three of the individual events she entered, taking the 100-meter hurdles in 16.60 seconds, the 300M hurdles in 51.96 and the triple jump at 31-02.50 feet. She also was part of the squad that took second in the 4x200M relay, running with Maria Fruechte, Josephine Wagner and Ali Beardmore.
Aly Folz won both throwing events, recording a shot put distance of 31 ft.-11.25 in. and 88-05 in discus.
Emma Lange won the high jump with a vertical leap of 5-02.00. She is undefeated in four meets this year.
Beardmore won the 100M dash in 13.99.
The team of Tracy Felten, Lydia DeMorett, Wagner and Samantha Colleran won the 4x100M relay with a time of 56.53.
The 4x800M relay team won 11:38.86. Members included Laura Jergenson, Brenna Werner, Randi Mehus and Liz Johnson.
Besides the 4x200M, there were four more second-place finishes for the Warrior girls. Fruechte took second in the 100M dash. Jergenson was second in the 1600M run. Felten was second in long jump, and the 4x400M team of Colleran, Irene Abbot, DeMorett and Mehus also scored second-place points for the team.
The boys entered 14 of 18 events, scoring points in 12.
West Spier won both the high jump (at 6-0) and long jump. His distance in the latter was a new personal record (19-6).
Ryan Pitts won the 100M dash with a time of 11.48. His 200M dash time of 23.77 also earned the top place. Pitts combined with Sam Schulte, Alex Goetzinger and Adam Buttell to win the 4x100M relay.
