"We played well most of the game, but our lack of run production did us in again," coach Dave Konz reported.

"That is one area we will have to work on during the summer in Legion ball and the off season to improve for next year."

Each team had just one earned run, but the No. 2 seed took advantage of walks and errors to slip past their rivals. Four Warrior errors, five walks and a hit batter put runners on base allowing the Ramblers to score six runs with only seven hits.

With five hits, C/SG did not generate enough offense to make up for a more meager amount of Rambler charity (one fielding error, 2 hit batters and a walk.)

The Warriors scored only when they put two hits together along with the lone Cotter error. Blaine Storlie led off with a single and scored on a two-out Harrison Speltz double, the only extra-base hit of the game.

That tied the score at 1-1 in the top of the fourth, but Cotter immediately answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning.

C/SG left the bases loaded in the fifth after a hit batter, a hit by TJ Schultz and a walk when winning pitcher Owen Burnikel escaped with an inning-ending ground out. Burnikel struck out nine and walked only one.

Only two batters had multiple hits. Speltz went 2 for 3 for C/SG while Cotter second baseman Roger Brosnahan hit 2 for 4.

The season ended for C/SG at 2-11 while Cotter improved to 10-8. The Ramblers later added another two tournament wins, taking the sub-section championship by defeating No. 3 La Crescent and No. 1 Lake City. The Ramblers were then eliminated with two losses at section on June 3.
