Paul Giel Field in Winona was the site of the Cotter Invitational track and field meet last Tuesday. The event drew athletes from five programs.

Caledonia/Spring Grove thrower Aly Folz won both the shot put (35 feet, 3.50 inches) and discus (94-07). It was the first time this season the senior standout has won both events at a single meet.

Teammate Ali Beardmore took second in the 300-meter low hurdles and ran on the second-place 4x100M team with Josephine Wagner, Brenna Werner, and Alexis King. That squad logged its best time so far this year.

In addition, the versatile junior placed third among 15 sprinters in the individual 100M and finished sixth in long jump. It was only the second time Beardmore has competed in the hurdles, and she shaved a whopping 3.65 seconds off her initial effort.

Maria Schieber took second in the 800M run with a new personal record time of 2 minutes, 37.03 seconds.

The 4x200M relay also placed second. That team featured Werner, Wagner, Samantha Colleran, and Tracy Felten. The 4x400M squad took fourth. They included Wagner, Colleran, Lydia DeMorett, and Werner.

In addition, Pitts finished third in the individual 200M dash.
