After dropping its first four games, Canton Bank has now won three straight and is one-half game out of second place as the men's softball league in Canton embarked on the second half of the slow pitch season on July 10.

Canton Bank 9, Chiggy's 6

Chiggy 103 000 2 = 6

Bank 330 102 x = 9

Chiggy's scored first and last, but not enough in between to overcome Canton Bank's early six-run salvo. The two teams have split their summer series with each team scoring 24 runs.

League home run leader Tyler Qualey hit his sixth homer in seven games for Chiggy's.

Canton Pub 19, Steuart's 4

Steuart's 100 030 0 = 4

Pub 057 304 x = 19

Again, Canton Pub's booming bats bludgeoned the opposition into submission. In each of the seven games, Pub has scored in double digits while never allowing the opponent the same satisfaction.

Jacoby Bigalk had a homer for Steuart's while Pub received round trippers from both Matt Erickson and Riley Austin.

Steuart's 12, SG Legion 6

SGL 204 000 0 = 6

Steuart's 261 102 x = 12

Spring Grove Legion was in striking range (down by two runs) until going scoreless during the final four innings. Steuart's maintained its grip on second place by scoring in every inning but one. Steuart's had defeated Legion by seven runs in the season opener.

Sam Otterness hit a home run for the Legion while a Dustin Bunke blast cleared the fence for Steuart's. It was the third home run of the season for both batters.
