Twenty B-Mods hit the clay quarter-mile at Upper Iowa Speedway on July 27, more than any other class of racers that compete in the Decorah-based points series.

Cool temperatures greeted fans and nearly seventy drivers as the ninth race of the season got under way. After three heats sorted out the field, the B-Mods feature was won by Dan Hovden of Decorah. He was followed across the line by Matt Buddenberg of the same home town, while third was nailed down by Matt Jones of Waukon. Troy Hovey of Decorah and Brian Mahlstedt of Ionia, Iowa rounded out the top five.

Spring Grove drivers Jon VanMinsel and Casey Knutson finished 10th and 12th, respectively. Four Caledonia drivers included Taylor Knutson, who took 13th, Greg Skauge (16th), Cole Konkel (17th), and Joe Rask (18th).

The 600cc Mod Lites class featured 15 entrants. Todd Kiehne of Harmony won his third feature of the season in bright red #12K, followed by Cole Denner of New Hampton, Gregory Wohletz of Winona, and Corey Whalen of Harmony. Chris Eide of Peterson took sixth, followed by Mabel driver Eli Hershberger. Adam Rogich of Houston was 12th, and John Griffin of Caledonia 13th. Rushford's Curt Luhmann took 14th.

Hobby Stocks was won by Adam Cline of Decorah, marking his sixth trip to the winners' circle. Steve Larson, also of Decorah, was second. Andy Stinson of Cresco was third, followed by Lanesboro's Adam Sveen and Iowan Justin Hanson. Harmony driver Chad Olson took eighth.

There were 11 four-cylinder Hornets competing. Iowan Steven McAllen took the checkered flag followed by John LeJeune of La Crosse. Third went to Paul Seabrooke of Elgin, while Jay Mensink of Harmony took fourth. Matt Durnan of Elgin was fifth and Spring Grove's Luke Onstad sixth. David Lenz of Mabel was eighth, while Breanna Lee of Mabel finished ninth.

The Stock Cars feature was won by Decorah's Mitch Hovden with Iowan Dillon Anderson second. Spring Grove's Pete Solum finished ninth.

The leader boards have Anderson at the top of that Stocks division with 817 points. Mitch Hovden is second at 748 and Dan Jones of Waterville is third with 714.

Kiehne leads the Mod Lites with 721 points. Griffin holds second with 676, and Denner third at 668.

Seabrooke leads the Hornets with 842, followed by LeJeune (820) and Ryan Ayers of Decorah (713).

The Hobby class is led by Larson (816) with Steve Holthaus of Cresco in second (796). Cline is third with 794.

Hovey is in first place among the B-Modders (831), followed by Dan Hovden (790) and VanMinsel (747).
