The Upper Iowa Speedway points series convened in Cresco on Sunday, June 15, with five classes of wheel-to-wheel racing churning up the dirt.

Curt Luhmann of Rushford captured another checkered flag in the 600 Mod Lites class. The Rushford native began the feature in sixth. Second went to Eli Hershberger of Mabel while Christopher Eide of Peterson grabbed third. Caledonia's John Griffin took fifth while Corey Whalen of Harmony took eighth. Eleventh place went to Adam Rogich of Mabel.

Four Cylinder Hornets found Tyler Becker of Elgin, Iowa in the top spot. Ryan Ayers of Decorah, was second with Arthur Schott of Clermont, Iowa third. Caledonia driver Christopher Schansberg took fourth, and Breanna Lee of Mabel sixth. Harmony's Jay Mensink finished 10th.

The Hobby Stocks feature was won by Cresco native Andy Stinson, with Brady Link of Waukon, Iowa in hot pursuit. Zac Mahlstedt of Ionia, Iowa took third. Harmony's Chad Olson was sixth while Jeremy Oakes of Spring Grove snagged 10th.

Chatfield's Jacob Bleess wheeled into the winner's circle following the B-Mods feature. He worked his way up from eighth place to take Sunday's checkered flag. Second went to Chris Weigert of New Hampton, Iowa while Brandon Hare of Elma, Iowa took third. Casey Knutson of Spring Grove was fourth, while fellow SG driver Jon Van Minsel took ninth.

Stock Cars were well represented at the Howard County Fairgrounds venue. Local favorite Shay Curtin won the feature race leading pole to pole. Decorah's Kevin Donlan took second, and Iowan Dillon Anderson third. Shawn Peter of Mabel took 10th and Spring Grove's Pete Solum 13th. Jake Lampert of Caledonia was 14th.

The season standings have Luhmann leading the Lites with 374 points followed by Griffin (327) and Hershberger (321).

Ayers holds sway over the Hornets (373) with second and third held by Elgin drivers Cody Torkelson (344) and Brandon Torkelson (338).

Hobby Stocks continues to be the domain of Olson (350 points) who now leads Stinson (349) by the narrowest of margins. Third (333 points) belongs to Joshua Ludeking of Decorah.

Matt Jones of Waukon leads 37 drivers who have earned points in the B-Mods class. He checks in with 355. Decorah driver Dan Hovden has 343 while Jon "Lucky" Van Minsel is third with 330.

Anderson leads the Stock Cars at 373. Decorah drivers Mitch Hovden (366) and Kyle Falck (350) are his closest competitors.

The series returns to Decorah on Saturday, June 21. Hot laps start at 6:00 and heats begin at 6:30. The quarter-mile clay oval track is located at the Winneshiek County Fairgrounds, 900 E. Main St (1.8 miles east of U.S. Hwy 52 on State Route 9 and 1 mile northwest on Montgomery Street.)
