With the Canton Men's Softball League championship already in the bag, Larson Well Drilling ended the regular season in dramatic fashion with Matt Erickson's walk-off home run.

Second place Steuart Labs' loss in the early game had secured the title for Larson Well before Larson Well took the field against   Mabel Liquor.

The teams ended up tied for second place after Soland led all the way after sending 7 runs across the plate before a Steuart batter stepped to the plate.

After a pair of 3-run home runs the previous week, Blaine Storlie made it 3 homers in two games. His 3-RBI blast in the sixth helped Steuart slice a 5-run deficit down to one (13-12).

Also for Steuart, Dustin Bunke had parked a 3-run stroke over the fence in the third inning, and Trevor Storlie belted a solo shot in the fifth frame, his sixth home run of the season.

Soland led only by one run before Tanner Draper clobbered a 2-run round-tripper in the top of the seventh. That 15-12 count would be the final score.

Mabel Liquor 20

Mabel Liquor, languishing in the lower half of the standings, was poised for the upset with a 20-18 lead going into the bottom of the final seventh inning.

A solo home run by Alex Smith tied the score before Erickson's game winner went over the fence.

The sixth inning was one to remember as well. Up 8-7, Mabel Liquor scored 12 runs in the top half of the inning to make it 20-7. But Larson Well came back with 11 runs highlighted by a grand slam home run by Paul Tollefsrud. Mabel Liquor still led but only 20-18 going into the final frame.

Mabel Liquor did not score in the top of the seventh to set up the fantastic finish from the league champs.

LWD had led 4-0 after three innings before ML took a 5-4 lead in the fourth inning. Collin O’Bieglo homered for Mabel Liquor.

It was the second 21-20 score for Larson, but the first slugfest had been a loss back in week seven.

Spring Grove Legion 8

Legion scored the first 3 runs of the game and also the final 5, but Crunchy did a lot of damage in between. Coby Bigalk hit a 2-run home run for Crunchy in the third.

A 2-RBI homer from John Otterness helped Legion take a first-inning lead. Ryan Lange cleared the fence to drive in 2 runs in the seventh. But that late 5-run rally would be far too little.
