It's getting to be a long winter, but that doesn't mean that there's no fun to be had! The entire family can enjoy Winter Fun Fest at Camp Winnebago on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. There will be indoor and outdoor activities, food, a cash raffle and lots of fun. Best of all, proceeds will help individuals with developmental disabilities enjoy a meaningful summer camp experience.
The event gets underway at 10 a.m. at the camp, located at 19708 Camp Winnebago Road, Caledonia. Area Lions Clubs and others are competing in a chili cook-off, with tasters casting votes for the best of the bunch. Cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children 10 and under and includes a beverage. Turkey sandwiches will also be available and a bake sale provides dessert. Live entertainment will be provided by Jelly Wine, and a pie-eating contest and face-painting are planned as well. Outdoor activities include hay rides, snow tubing and a campfire complete with s'mores.
Several vendors will be attendance, including Thirty-One, Sam's Club, Sheldon's Designs (hand-crafted jewelry and more), Schwann's, Tupperware, and Ewe's Truly (handmade soap, jewelry, and other items). Interested vendors may contact the camp for more information.
The highlight of the day will be the cash raffle at 2 p.m. The top prize is $3,000 with a total of $7,500 being given away.
Camp Winnebago is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. Its mission is to enhance, through a diversity of experiences, the self-worth, independence, and quality of life of people with developmental disabilities. It has held camp sessions every summer since 1968.
