Why donate blood?

• Every two seconds, someone in American needs blood.

• On an average day, 38,000 units of red blood cells are needed.

• There is no substitute for blood.

• Only 5 percent of the eligible population donated blood.

• Most donors donate 1.5 times a year.

• You never know when you, a loved one or a friend will need blood. Blood must be available before it is needed.

Who is eligible to donate?

• A person in good health;

• 17 years of age (there is no upper age limit);

• Weight at least 110 pounds (minimum weight may vary in some facilities); and

• Pass the physical and health examinations given prior to donation.

Sixteen year olds are eligible to donate with signed ARC Consent Form. A new MN State Law allows individuals with tattoos to donate under certain circumstances- you may be eligible to donate. Stop by and find out!
