Tuesday, February 05, 2013 4:25 AM
SELCO (Southeastern Libraries Cooperating) and the Spring Grove Public Library encourage local poets of all ages to submit their original unpublished poetry to be considered for publication in two regional poetry anthologies, one for adults and one for youth in high school.
This is the third year SELCO has offered the poetry contest. Poetry submissions will be accepted through Friday, Feb. 15.
Poetic Strokes Submission Guidelines for adults include:
Poets must be 18 years of age or older and must reside in Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha or Winona counties.
All poetry styles are welcome for submission.
Poems must be typed and can be submitted as either digital attachments through e-mail or mailed paper copies.
Submit digital files by e-mail to email@example.com as one of the following document types: .doc, .txt, .rtf or .pdf.
Submit paper copies to the following address: SELCO, Attn: Poetry, 2600 19th St. NW, Rochester, MN 55901. Paper copy submissions should be printed on 8.5" by 11" white paper and stapled in the upper left-hand corner.
Attach a one-page cover sheet containing the title of the poem, your name, address, age and phone number. Your name should appear on the cover sheet only and not on the poem submission.
The maximum submission allowed will be one poem and the total submission cannot exceed three pages. The cover page will not be counted as one of the three pages.
Early or late submissions and faxed submissions will not be accepted. Paper submissions will not be returned.
A qualified judging panel will review all entries and make the final selection. Selected poets will be notified.
The Word Flow Submission Guidelines specify that poets must be 14 to 18 years of age or in high school and must reside in Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha or Winona counties.
All other guidelines that apply to adults also apply to student entries.
