Relive that childhood story of adventure and make-believe when the youth of Spring Grove present the adaptation of J.M. Barrie's novel, "Peter Pan and Wendy."

This play follows the adventure that begins when Peter Pan flies into the nursery at the Darling home. Wendy Darling follows her instincts and adventures off to Neverland with Peter Pan while bringing her little brothers along as well.

They arrive in Neverland and Wendy tries to take care of the motherless Lost Boys, but soon she and her brothers are swept into Peter Pan's battle with Captain Hook and his pirate crew.

"What I like best about this adaptation is that it's extremely close to the original book written by J.M. Barrie," commented Annie Galloway, director.

"It keeps all of his wonderful language usage while still creating a fun, understandable story for children."

This Ye Olde Opera House (YOOH) youth production has a large cast with a lot of energy that is sure to entertain the audience.

"I chose not to cut anyone from the cast, which is a load of stress off of my shoulders right away," explained Galloway.

"The Ye Olde Opera House is a really magical place where dreams and fairytales get to be actualized among friends, and it would be awful to be excluded from that magic."

The "Peter Pan and Wendy" cast have been busy practicing all summer long during the heat, and they are ready to show off their talents. Galloway has been working with the children helping them hone their acting skills and stage presence.

"I think my favorite part has to be how simple it has been to share my love of Peter Pan with each and every one of them [the cast]. It's really wonderful to see just how infectious the power of a good story is.

"They have been really smart and creative - they've helped me think of needed props, costumes and characterization all on their own! When it comes down to it, no matter how much work we're doing, we're having much more fun sword fighting and pretending to fly!"
