The Houston County Historical Society is launching a second capital fund drive to continue work on its museum in Caledonia.

Although the main museum is essentially finished, much remains to be completed. The displays need to be arranged, and the timeline will take special expertise. Money needs to be raised for the elevator, and the basement area needs finishing.

Funds also need to be raised for the refurbishing of the original museum. The carpeting is 20 years old and is quite worn. Painting and additional electrical work are also planned.

The building will become the research area and library. More shelving is needed for all the books and boxes of research papers that are currently in storage. The society is building a library of area and Minnesota books for the researchers to use. In addition, the society appreciates so much the wonderful response by all donors these past years. The first fund drive began in April of 2003.

Once again, the society is asking for your help to complete this project. To donate, mail your tax-deductible donation to 104 History Lane, Caledonia, MN 55921, or stop by the museum, which is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday year around and 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, June through September.
