Expect to hear some great stories during this retreat titled "God's Story in Our Story in God's Story" on Friday, Jan. 18 from 7 - 9 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Franciscan Spirituality Center, 920 Market St. in La Crosse, Wis.

Presenter Bishop James Arends of the La Crosse Area Synod - ELCA will help attendees explore the interconnectedness of God's biblical story, God's activity in their present world, and God's actions in and through their lives.

This retreat will guide participants in awareness of where they have seen God active in their lives and our world. The fee is $95 and sign up by calling (608) 791-5295 or email fscenter@fspa.org.

Bishop Arends was elected in 2008 to a six-year term as a bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). He has over 30 years experience in ministry, serving as pastor at churches in Brooklyn Center, Geneva, Spring Grove and La Crescent before becoming bishop.
