Main Street update - sidewalks to be poured this week

MnDOT reports that last week in Spring Grove, the Phase 2A detour went into effect until further notice. It is directing Hwy. 44 traffic through town on the northside of Main Street behind the Legion, City Hall, etc. A stop sign has been placed by the water tower in front of Ellingson's Elevator for westbound traffic, requiring those vehicles to come to complete stop to help alleviate traffic jams when larger vehicles and semis cannot meet oncoming traffic.

Other work completed last week includes sanitary sewer, water main and storm sewer work between 1st Ave. SW and 3rd Ave. SW, pouring of curb and gutter between 1st Ave. NW and Division Avenue, pavement removal between 3rd Ave. SW and 3rd Ave. NW, and sidewalk removal and grading for new sidewalk between 1st Ave. NW and Division Ave.

Work scheduled for this week includes:

• Pour sidewalk from 1st Ave. SW to Division Ave.

• Remove contaminated material between 3rd Ave. SW to 3rd Ave. NW

• Work on sanitary sewer, water main and storm sewers between 1st Ave. SW and 3rd Ave. SW

For the Hwy. 44 portion from Spring Grove to Highway 52, MnDOT says that bituminous paving at box culvert locations will occur as well as guardrail installation at those same locations.

For those who may be interested, a weekly project update is posted on the project website at www.dot.state.mn.us/d6/projects/hwy44spring-grove/index.html and on the project Facebook page at Spring Grove MnDOT.
