Chicago's O'Connor Casting Company is holding an open call on Saturday, Dec. 1, at Mall of America for all Norwegian-Americans interested in applying for Season 4 of Norway's No. 1 Emmy award winning Reality TV show "Alt for Norge" aka "The Great Norway Adventure".
Fifty-five percent of Norwegian-Americans live in the Midwest, and the auditions are open to all adventurous Americans with Norwegian ancestry (even a little bit counts) who are age 18+, a U.S. citizen and have never traveled to Norway.
The series follows 12 Norwegian-Americans who fly to Norway and immerse themselves in the culture and compete in a series of extreme challenges that test their skills, courage and determination.
The winner receives a cash prize of $50,000 and will meet Norwegian relatives they don't even know exist.
"We can't even describe how cool this experience is," says Joan O'Connor, casting producer. "Past contestants have had a total blast, a life changing experience and are now TV stars in Norway. They can't go anywhere in Norway without being accosted by fans."
In the past three seasons, there've been six contestants from Minnesota including a pastor, professor, belly dance instructor, security officer, insurance agent and performance artist.
O'Connor is hoping to send more Minnesotans to Norway. For all information go to www.oconnorcasting.tv.
The open call is on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will take place in the Executive Center at Mall of America, which is located on Level 4 East.
In 2010, Kari Tauring came to Spring Grove during Syttende Mai. She was a season one contestant on "Alt for Norge."
