Librarian Dawn Johnson unload 1,000 books donated by the family of the late Jody Holmstrom.

Every so often in your lifetime, you meet a person who has such an influence on your being that you are, from that day forward, a better friend to all others in your circle. That is the kind of friend that Jody Holmstrom was to the Spring Grove Public Library.

Jody's passion for reading and love of Spring Grove area residents lead to her involvement in helping start the original log cabin lending library nearly 30 years ago. She and a few other dedicated souls helped Zada Koblas create and manage the collection.

It was heart wrenching to Jody and Spring Grove when her family moved to the Cities to pursue occupational opportunities. She maintained contacts in the area and followed each milestone as our library grew.

This past May, Jody succumbed to cancer. But not before she was once again able to bless the Spring Grove Library. She asked her family to donate the remains of her personal book collection to Spring Grove.

No small gift, nearly 1,000 books were brought here via moving van a few weeks ago! The books that could be assimilated are nearly all processed and ready to be checked out.

Stop in and honor this gift by using it, Jody would be so pleased. And while you cradle that volume in your arms, leaf through its pages, absorb its message... think of our friend Jody and her family.

Thank you Jody, may you rest in peace.
