The award was bestowed upon Sanness in 2012 and acknowledged a second time at the resort's "Employee of the Year" gala held Jan. 3, 2013, at the MGM Grand Conference Center.
His parents, Scott & Ann Sanness, of rural Spring Grove were in attendance. Sanness has been with the MGM since 2006.
"MGM Grand is pleased to recognize the best and brightest of our employees," said Jenny Titus, Director of Employee Programs for MGM Grand.
"The 'Supervisor in the Spotlight' program recognizes employees who have strong leadership capabilities. Mr. Sanness stands tall among those employees who give 100 percent of their efforts every day to ensure that our guests have an exciting and memorable experience."
MGM Grand has more than 8,100 employees. Each fiscal quarter, the hotel nominates four supervisors to be recognized as a "Supervisor in the Spotlight" and then one supervisor among the four is ultimately named "Supervisor in the Spotlight."
Sanness is a 2006 graduate of Spring Grove High School and 2012 graduate of University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
