Diners, volunteers and staff at the Spring Grove Semcac Senior Dining site enjoyed a special Christmas meal on Dec. 18. Despite the near blizzard conditions, approximately 50 people came together.

The Semcac Senior Dining site in Spring Grove celebrated Christmas on Dec. 18 with a turkey meal and all the trimmings.

Approximately 50 people braved the snowy morning and listened to special music from Arland Folstad and Glen Alstad before the meal. There was a lot of socialization and several door prizes given away.

Any senior citizen age 60 and over is invited to visit the Spring Grove Senior Dining site in the front room of the American Legion, Monday through Friday. Social activities begin at 10:30 a.m. with the meal served promptly at 11 a.m.

The price is a suggested donation of $3.50 per meal but no one will be denied a meal because of inability to pay.

Diners are asked to call the dining site at (507) 498-3385 between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. the day before to reserve a meal. Menus are published each week in the Spring Grove Herald.

The Spring Grove site also offers Meals-on-Wheels to homebound seniors. Sign up by calling Jennifer Wiste or Kris Olson, site managers, at 498-3385.

On Saturday, Jan. 19, there will be a special morning meal with soup & sandwich meal served at 11 a.m.
