On Saturday, May 11, the Spring Grove Post Office rural carriers, in conjunction with the United States Post Office, will be collecting nonperishable food items like canned soup, juice, pasta, vegetables, cereal and rice.

In 2012, the Spring Grove Post Office brought in 455 pounds of food to the local food shelf. As a nation, carriers collected more than 70 million pounds of food donations.

This 21st annual food drive is important to replenish supplies. Please place food items in your box or hang them from your mailbox. Post office box customers can bring their items to the post office on South Division Ave.

"Thank you in advance for your generous contributions, and big thanks to rural carriers, Aaron Solum and Steve Selness, for their hard work collecting food off the routes," Spring Grove Postmaster Patty McManinon-Moe stated.
