The 2012 UffDa Fest Kubb tournament promises to be a friendly, fun-filled tournament in Spring Grove Saturday, Sept 29.

In addition to the tourney, there will be good ethnic food, drinks, quilts, crafts, entertainment, kids games and adult games including the famous "Lutefisk Toss."

The tourney will be a 16-team round-robin event using U.S. National Kubb rules available at www.desmoineskubb.com.

Registration is open now and will end when the first 16 teams have signed up. Organizers plan on having a Kubb practice event at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove.

Teams of two to six players (may be co-ed) will compete in a 16-team round robin/knockout tournament.

Tournament pitches (fields) will be set up on a field located behind the Fest Building. The registration fee is $30 per team.

The schedule on the 29th is:

• 8 to 9 a.m. - check-in

• 9:15 to 9:30 a.m. - rule review, pitch assignments and ceremonial first toss

• Trophies to be awarded approximately between 3 and 5 pm.

Sixteen teams will be divided into four groups. Teams finishing first and second in each group will advance to the championship bracket. Teams finishing third and fourth will move on to the consolation bracket.

All matches are best-of-three games and will follow U. S. National Championship Rules.

Awards will be given in the championship bracket for first place and No. 1 Seed in 2013 the UffDa Fest Kubb Tournament as well as second place trophy and No. 2 Seed. The consolation bracket will award only a first place trophy
