The city of Spring Grove is offering curbside pick up of yard waste and branches on Mondays only through April 30, according to its monthly newsletter.

In addition, the city's brush dumpsite, east of Spring Grove on Nine Oakes Drive is open for yard waste 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. It is available other times by securing a key at city hall during normal business hours.

As long as residents abide by the rules and keep garbage and building materials, as well as other prohibited items, out of the site, the gate will remain unlocked, City Administrator Theresa Coleman pointed out.

The site will accept waste only from properties within the city limits, which are hauled there by its residents.

Acceptable items include:

• Grass clippings, leaves and garden waste

• Sticks, twigs and branches

• Firewood and larger tree branches, which must be cut into lengths less than 4 feet.

Those bringing tree materials over six inches in diameter should contact city hall at (507) 498-5221 for additional size requirements.

Some of the items prohibited include building materials, fencing materials, rocks and concrete sections, plastic bags and cardboard boxes or any other containers.
