Ye Olde Opera House (YOOH) in Spring Grove is hosting final auditions for "Seussical the Musical!" on Thursday, May 9, from 6-7:30 p.m. at its building, 155 W. Main St. (across from Kwik Trip).

All ages are welcome for a variety of lead, cameo and chorus roles, but adults are especially encouraged to try out.

Never auditioned before or has it been a while? Fear not, Dr. Seuss is for everybody said YOOH board member, Rachel Storlie.

"Join us, and 'Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!'"

The summer musical will be held July 18 to 21 at 8:30 p.m. nightly at the Ye Olde Gray Barn, east of Spring Grove.

About the show

"Seussical the Musical!" is based on several well known Dr. Seuss books, including, "Horton Hears a Who!", "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", "Green Eggs and Ham", "Yertle the Turtle" and other stories.

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge, not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.

Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes his kind and his powerful heart.

Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant in a story that makes you laugh and cry.
