  • Lion make late charge for volleyball title
    The Spring Grove varsity girls moved within one volleyball game of first place with a six-game sweep of Winona Cotter and a forfeit from Houston in the Monday night summer volleyball league at Houston. One match being a make-up, SG played Cotter twice on July 11. 
  • Lions take softball tournament title
    The eighth grade and under girls (13-4) won their 11th straight softball game on the way to the championship of the La Crescent Tournament on Wednesday, July 13. 
  • Softball winning streak reaches eight
    The eighth grade and under softball Lions (10-4) extended their winning streak to eight games with three wins at Preston on Wednesday, July 6. 
  • Summer basketball season closes for varsity girls
    No Monday volleyball was played last week due to the holiday, but the winless summer cage campaign closed for the SG varsity girls in the league-ending tournament on Tuesday, July 5. 
  • Junior high girls keep winning
    The eighth grade and under girls extended their winning streak to five as they won all three softball games on Wednesday, after the fifth grade and under team won two of three on Monday - all played at Lanesboro. 
  • Lions tripped by Trojans at the net
    The Spring Grove girls (2-1) dropped their first summer volleyball match against Rushford-Peterson at the Monday night summer sessions in Houston on June 27. 
  • Summer cage season winds down for varsity girls
    The Spring Grove varsity girls closed the regular summer round robin sessions at St. Mary’s with an 0-8 record heading into the tournament finale. 
  • Hokah hosted the fifth grade and under games on Monday, June 20 and the eighth grade and under girls action on Wednesday. 
  • Augedahl repeats as MVP; Joined by Ideker, O’Heron and Gran on All-SEC team
    Senior softball catcher Vanessa Augedahl was Spring Grove/Caledonia Most Valuable Player and Gatorade Player of the Year for the second straight season and for the third year was an All-Conference selection by the SEC coaches. 
  • Polus wins state with record high jump
    Senior Brianna Polus captured the state high jump championship, broke a Class A state record and won two medals while leading the Caledonia/Spring Grove/Mabel-Canton girls to their best team finish ever (10th) at the Class A State Track Meet on Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11 at Blaine. 
  • C/SG girls capture another state golf championship
    They are number one, and it is number seven. The Caledonia/ Spring Grove girls are the Class A state golf champions for the seventh time in 21 seasons and broke a course record while they were at it last Wednesday and Thursday, June 8 and 9 at Izaty’s Resort near Onamia.
