Foundation looking for continued success with help from community

The Spring Valley Area Community Foundation successfully wrapped up our first year! This is what we have done: (1) Appointed a board and officers who meet monthly; (2) Participated in Ag Days, Wykoff Fest, Fall Business Expo; (3) Started a Founders Club that raised $60,000; (4) Provided grants for Music in the Park, Wykoff Community Center roof repairs, tuition free summer school for 30 Kingsland and St. John's students to attend Gateway Academy and scholarships for students.
It has been a very busy year, but we have so much more we want to do for our communities. We are building for the future of Spring Valley, Wykoff and Ostrander. On Nov. 15, we are looking for your help. This is an important day for Minnesota Non-Profits to raise awareness for their groups and to raise funds. This year the Spring Valley Area Community Foundation has challenged the Preston Area Foundation to see who can raise the most funds on that day.
Both foundations are organized under the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation headed up by Tim Penny. Miken Sports of Caledonia has graciously donated composite baseball bats to the winner for its local school as an added bonus. Please consider supporting your local foundation on Nov. 15. Please pass this challenge on to your classmates, family and friends via email and Facebook.
To make your tax deductible donation you need a computer and a credit or debit card. On Nov. 15 go to the website: www.givemn.org - in the upper right corner type in "Spring Valley Area Community Foundation - use your credit card or debit card to donate securely (you will receive an email with your tax receipt).
You will feel amazed and inspired by the whole giving experience. Please know that any size contribution is greatly appreciated and 100 percent goes into our Endowment Fund to fund local causes. Please join us in this effort.
