Alice Meyer, 94, of Wykoff

Alice D. Meyer, 94. of Wykoff, died Saturday morning, May 11, 2013, at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.
She was born May 5, 1919, south of Wykoff the daughter of Gustav and Marie (Miller) Wondrasch. She was baptized May 19, 1919, confirmed May 28, 1933, and attended parochial school, all at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She did housework until her marriage to Lorenz Meyer on April 12, 1939, in Wykoff. The couple farmed until 1962 when they moved into town. She worked for the city cleaning the community center for 25 years and helped her family with the family business, Meyer Garbage. Mr. Meyer died July 17, 1989.
She was a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the Farmers Union. She loved her family and enjoyed gardening and embroidery.
She is survived by her four sons, Lyle of Rochester, Maurice of Rochester, Steve (Annette) of Spring Valley and Lowell (Karen) of Chatfield; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lorena Arnold and Ruth Wondrasch both of Saginaw, Mich.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Rasmussen; one grandson, Jamie; and two sisters, Adeline and Melvina.
The funeral will be 2 p.m., today (Wednesday) at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert V. Stohlmann officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Thauwald Funeral Home in Wykoff from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and at the church on Wednesday an hour before the service.
