Barbara Leibfried, 76, of Racine, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.

She was born May 31, 1937, to Byron and Edna (McClarey) Smith in Spring Valley. She graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1955. On Nov. 5, 1955, she was united in marriage to Edward Leibfried in Spring Valley. Besides being a farm wife, she also worked at Seneca for 27 years, working in many departments. After retiring, she decided to volunteer her time at the Stewartville Nursing Home, coordinating activities for the residents. When she was not working, she enjoyed flowers and loved being in her flowerbeds. She also enjoyed knitting and croqueting. She was a member of the Red Hats and the Sunshine Club in Spring Valley.

She is survived by her husband, Ed, of Racine; children, Doug (Kris) Leibfried of Spring Valley, Allen (Vickie) Leibfried of Spring Valley, and Rick Leibfried of Baldwin, Wis.; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Josh (Chelsie), Sarah (Jerry), Scott (Becky), Abbigail (Nate), Adam (Kelly), Stephanie (Cameron), Jon (Shaela), Brittany, and Brandon; and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sons Curtis and Steven, grandson, Micheal, and sister, Florence.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley with the Rev. Marreddy Pothireddy officiating. Burial will be at St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery. A time of gathering will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley and one hour prior to the service at the church.
