Delia M. Eastwold, 99, died June 2, 2013, at Wildwood Grove Retirement Home, LeRoy.
She was born in Fillmore County May 15, 1914, to Herbert F. and Alice M. (Winslow) Lawson. She attended Beaver Center Country School through eighth grade, Chester High School for three years and graduated from Spring Valley High School. On June 1, 1934, she married Lloyd O. Eastwold. The two were founding members of United Lutheran Church in Chester, Iowa. They farmed together for many years and raised their family in Fillmore County.
Mrs. Eastvold enjoyed gardening, crafts, flowers, pets, card and board games. She was a great cook and enjoyed sharing with company. She made many quilts for Lutheran missions. She compiled a family history book, which included many childhood memories. She moved to Wildwood Grove in Leroy in 2004.
She is survived by five children, Alice (Don) Dahl, Florence Lindstrom, Paul (Jacque) Eastwold, Eric (Kristin) Eastwold, and Mary (Murray) Hanson; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, two brothers, and two grandsons.
Services were June 5 at United Lutheran Church, Chester, with burial at Bethlehem rural cemetery, Fillmore County. Memorials are suggested to Chester United Lutheran Church, Bethlehem Cemetery and Wildwood Grove Retirement Home.
