Dennis James Christopherson, 67, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the Spring Valley Senior Living Center in Spring Valley.

He was born on Aug. 28, 1946, at the Preston Hospital in Preston, the son of Arthur and Charlotte (Larson) Christopherson.

He was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Valley and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, also in Spring Valley.

He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1964. Following high school, he attended Rochester Junior College and graduated with an Associate of Arts degree on June 9, 1966. He then attended Mankato State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree on Aug. 22, 1969.

He was attending Mankato State College working on his Masters Degree when he was drafted into the Army. He was in the Second (Indian Head) Division from Aug. 13, 1970, to Feb. 19, 1972, and served in Korea. Following his discharge from the service he returned to this area.

He worked for AMPI in Rochester for over 25 years.

He loved to hunt and had several hunting dogs over the years. He purchased several parcels of land over the years and enjoyed fencing, walking in the woods and sharing the peaceful land with others.

Survivors include his sister, Mildred Payne of Waterloo, Iowa; his brother, Lester and wife Joanne of Rochester, his brother, Roy and wife Janice of Spring Valley, his sister, Helen Stier of Grand Meadow and his sister, Shirley and husband Norman Bergman of Austin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Charlotte Christopherson.

The family would like to thank the Spring Valley Care Center for their care given to him the last weeks of his life.

A memorial service for him was held Monday, March 17, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. The Rev. Dennis Timmerman and the Rev. Laura Fladten, will officiate. Interment will be at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
