Dwayne Schoppers, 80, of Spring Valley, died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Dwayne Willis Schoppers was born Oct. 14, 1932, in Grand Meadow, to Herman and Hazel (Riehl) Schoppers. Growing up on a farm, he loved to help on his parent's farm. He attended country school until the eighth grade. On June 2, 1957, he was united in marriage to Eurmadella Gehrking at St. John Lutheran Church in Wykoff. Mr. Schoppers worked in highway maintenance and for the city of Spring Valley.
When he wasn't hunting or fishing, he could be found tinkering around his house or working on Allis Chalmers Tractors. He loved his two dogs, Pal and Pudgy.
He is survived by his wife, Eurmadella Schoppers of Spring Valley, children, Joann (Rob Stier) Schoppers of Spring Valley, Susan (Earl) Berg of Spring Valley, and Keith Schoppers of St. Ansgar, Iowa; brother, Lewis (Kathy) Schoppers of Rochester; brother-in-law, Ken McBride of Preston, and sister-in-law, Carol (Selmer) Bergeson of Racine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Hazel and sister Eva McBride.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 27, at First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with the Rev. Loel Wessel officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at the Washington Cemetery in rural Fillmore County.
Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley was in charge of arrangements.
